PLATFORM : A Biblical Defense

MARK WILEY of Fountain Valley, who leads a Christian fellowship in Anaheim, believes that fundamentalist Christians are unfairly portrayed as fanatical and narrow-minded. He told The Times:

Liberal attitudes regarding abortion, gay rights and prayer in school, to name a few, appease the masses. It is far more popular, and easier, to “go with the flow” and not “rock the boat.” Today, our modern society is rapidly becoming amoral.

Historically, any civilization that would seek to eliminate God and his word progressively renders itself incapable of distinguishing between good and evil. Homosexuality, for example, is now often merely perceived as an alternate lifestyle, rather than a perversion of God’s natural design.

However, the evangelical Christian, utilizing the Old and New Testaments as his final standard of authority, would fervently contend that homosexual conduct is “vile” and “abominable” to God. (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26).

Tragically, the steadfast refusal of the Christian Church to blindly compromise with biblically defined wickedness has led to unfortunate media labels of “fanaticism” and “narrow-mindedness.”
