No Need to Cry: The big winner in this week’s box-office race came in No. 4, not No. 1. Miramax’s “The Crying Game,” boasting six Academy Award nominations including best picture, jumped to fourth place with $4.6 million in revenue during the weekend. After Presidents’ Day weekend and before the nominations came out, the independent film was No. 15 with a $1.2-million take. In No. 1 position, Columbia’s “Groundhog’s Day” kept its head above ground for the second weekend in a row with a gross of $9.4 million. Disney’s “Homeward Bound” was next with $6.5 million. The romance “Sommersby” from Warner Bros. took third with $6.4 million, and Disney’s “Aladdin” tied for fourth with “The Crying Game,” according to early industry estimates.
