Community Service: The Fullerton Marriott has started providing food for a local Meals on Wheels program to feed the elderly.
The hotel prepares one hot and one cold meal five days a week for about 25 people. The food is delivered to shut-ins by Meals on Wheels volunteers. The seniors are charged $5 a day for the service, or it is subsidized if they cannot afford to pay that much. The hotel receives the money as reimbursement for its food costs.
While the meals are usually pretty simple--a meat, a vegetable and a starch--the hotel staff has to pay particular attention to seniors who have special diets.
“The Fullerton Marriott is the only provider of food for our local program,” said Janet DelDuca, office manager for the Placentia/Yorba Meals on Wheels program.
