SANTA ANA : Suggestions Sought for Names of Schools
- Share via
Santa Ana Unified School District officials are inviting residents to suggest names for two new schools that are expected to open in the next two years.
The new campuses are a high school annex at Cypress Avenue and Main Street north of St. Gertrude Place and an intermediate school at Chestnut and Grand avenues.
A list of names will be compiled and presented to the Board of Trustees at its April 13 meeting. Suggested names will be reviewed by a district committee, which will select four to seven names for each school, district spokeswoman Diane Thomas said.
Traditionally, intermediate schools have been named in honor of educators and other people who have made important contributions to the county or to the city of Santa Ana. High schools have usually been named after geographic locations or events recognizing local history.
