Restroom Attendant Deserves Applause

I read with interest Jeannine Stein’s column about restroom grooming attendants (“Oh, What a Night in the Restroom,” Feb. 12).
I was sorry she didn’t tell more about how friendly and helpful these people really are. They become friends and confidants away from home.
I am a regular customer at Yamashiro and I have come to rely on Theresa in the ladies’ room. She compliments my clothes, gives me a hug when I’m sad, listens to my problems with my husband and children and asks how things turned out the next time I see her. She knows what type of cologne I wear and always keeps it for me.
Bathroom attendants are the unsung heroes of many fine restaurants.
