Acting NPR Head: Joseph Dembo, a former vice president of CBS News, was selected Thursday as acting president of National Public Radio. Dembo, currently an NPR board member, will take over in mid-April upon the departure of Douglas J. Bennet, the Clinton Administration’s choice as assistant secretary of state for international organizations. A search committee will find a permanent successor.
