Schools and Racism

In response to “Spelling the ‘R’ Word,” Commentary, Feb. 24:
Los Angeles Unified School District elementary school principal Ricardo Sosapavon’s column, through the use of the classic post hoc fallacy--after a fact, therefore because of that fact--attributes every malaise of the LAUSD to the “R word”--racism. So, too, the recent floods must be racist; they followed the labeling of our weather pattern “el nino,” an obvious racist concept.
As to the many woes of the Los Angeles schools, whatever solutions are to be attempted, elementary principals who substitute racial hyperbole for educational effort are certainly no help.
