Military Base Closings

There is just no pleasing some people.
Members of the Senate and the House from both parties have been attacking the President’s plan because they say it does not cut spending enough. Words like “bloated bureaucracy” are bandied about.
So the defense secretary issues a “hit” list for a number of military installations to cut spending. Rather than thanking the Administration for cutting spending, members of Congress and others go ballistic in demanding that all those people should not be laid off. Did they not realize that a big part of “cutting expenses” involves people’s salaries?
