Today is the deadline for area civic organizations to apply for $50,000 in city grant funds.
The funds are aimed specifically at programs that assist Dana Point residents.
“The main goal is to provide seed money for additional social programs in the area,” said John Donlevy, assistant city manager, “programs that help Dana Point residents.”
The deadline was extended from the March 5 by the city Human Services Commission. Civic groups have until 5 p.m. today to submit an application to Dana Point City Hall. No postmarks or fax copies will be accepted after that.
Priority will be given to groups that are local nonprofit organizations. In particular, city officials will favor programs that service needs that aren’t being met in Dana Point.
Also considered strongly will be projects that require a minimum of funding for administration or management and organizations willing to share information with the general public and the Dana Point community.
Questions about the grants should be directed to Donlevy. He can be reached at (714) 248-3518.
