PLATFORM : School Choice

I think it’s OK to let students pick their own school. Sometimes they might not like the school they have to go to and it might “unmotivate” them. If they pick the school they want to go to, they’ll have more motivation to learn.

It’s a possibility that ethnicity might make a difference. Maybe Asians coming over here from other countries, like Korea, might feel a little uncomfortable because they don’t speak the language too well and they want to hang around with their own group so they’ll be more comfortable. But I don’t think that’s a good idea. They need to be exposed to diversity so they’ll be able to adapt.

Some students might pick a school for the wrong reasons; some would pick for the right reasons. The wrong reasons might be that they want to be with their friends, be inside a crowd, partying and not caring. Good reasons would be trying to excel, trying to get to a good college, getting a better education for themselves through self-motivation.
