Countywide : Border Patrol Warns Residents About Illegal Irish Pavers
- Share via
An Oxnard Border Patrol agent is warning Ventura County residents to be on the lookout for a group of Irish nationals operating an illegal paving business throughout the state.
Michael Molloy, agent in charge of the Oxnard station, said the group may be heading for the Ventura County area.
Salinas Border Patrol agents last week arrested an alien from Ireland who was working with the paving operation, he said. After an investigation in the San Francisco area a year ago, nine members of the group were arrested for violating immigration laws, Molloy said.
The men solicit paving jobs for a very low cost and insist on being paid in cash, he said.
The work and materials are inferior, although the finished job looks adequate. But the work deteriorates rapidly, sometimes washing away with rain.
