ANAHEIM : Church Will Host Cultural Celebration

The Orange County Buddhist Church will host a Japanese cultural event today and Sunday to celebrate Hanamatsuri, the anniversary of Gautama Buddha’s birth 2,500 years ago.
Cultural exhibits will include handmade dolls, swords, Japanese flower arrangements, calligraphy and bonsai.
Stage demonstrations will include Japanese classical dance, martial arts, a musical performance by the Taiko Drum Group and a tea ceremony.
In addition, there will be a boutique, games, booths and a food bazaar offering fresh produce, baked goods and Asian foods.
The hondo , or sanctuary, will be open to visitors, with guides available to answer questions.
The event will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and the public is invited.
