Hart’s Grossman Chooses UCLA for Cross-Country

Keith Grossman of Hart High, who has played an integral part in the Indians’ three consecutive state Division I cross-country titles, has made a non-written commitment to UCLA.
Grossman, who took recruiting trips to UCLA and Stanford, was leaning toward UCLA, he said, but his decision became much easier Monday when he found out he had not been accepted to Stanford.
“I’m happy with UCLA,” Grossman said. “But Stanford just kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Their coach made it seem like I had a great chance of getting in.”
Grossman placed fourth in the 1991 state Division I cross-country championships as a junior and he was 12th last year, despite having been hampered by injuries for much of the season. He has a personal best of 9 minutes 9.83 seconds in the 3,200 meters.
