Principals Alerted to Possibility of Unrest

The Southern Section has notified school principals to be prepared in case of civil unrest after the verdicts are announced in the Rodney G. King and Reginald Denny trials. Section officials have recommended that the principals control whether athletic events should be postponed.
Section officials said that in the event a principal determines that the situation is unsafe, he or she may postpone an athletic contest without the team forfeiting.
Several games were postponed as a result of last year’s riots.
