Sheriff’s officials on Wednesday released the names of the two surveyors struck and killed by a mail truck driver.
Jon Curtiss Adkinson, 31, of Temecula and Roy Campfield, 34, of Hemet died instantly when a truck driven by Francis Joseph Macmillan, 36, of Whittier struck them on Lake Forest Drive, Lt. Dick Olson said.
Macmillan was given a blood test but was not arrested or cited. Investigators are still looking at evidence, Olson said.
The fatal accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. under a pair of bridges. The surveyors were working on the path for the planned Foothill Transportation Corridor, said Mike Stockstill, a spokesman for the Transportation Corridor Agencies, which oversees the project.
