VENTURA : Home Siege Results in Firearm Arrest
- Share via
A four-hour police siege at a Ventura home ended peacefully early Friday morning when officers arrested Mi Kyung Martin and charged her with reckless discharge of a firearm.
Ten Ventura police officers arrived at Martin’s home in the 300 block of Delaware Drive just after midnight in response to reports of gunfire. After failing to contact her by telephone, officers broke out Martin’s bedroom window and held her at bay until other officers could enter the house, police said.
Found in Martin’s bedroom, police said, were two loaded semiautomatic handguns, a loaded sawed-off shotgun and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
According to police, Martin, 42, had fired several rounds from the shotgun into a tree in her yard.
Martin was taken to Ventura County Jail. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
