‘Islam Rising’ Special Report

In “Islam Rising” you continue to portray Islam as a backward, oppressed religion. You don’t give the complete picture.

You say that in Islam a man can have four wives and a woman, one husband. Islam doesn’t require or expect polygamy; it is tolerated if and only if the husband can treat each wife equally and is responsible for them equally, and their children as well. Most importantly, he must have approval from the other wife/wives.

What you have written is like saying that Western men can only have one wife but are entitled to as many mistresses as they desire. And Western women can only have one husband and can have lovers as long as they are not caught. You can’t deny this double standard in our society. Why “condemn” Muslim men because they choose to do it openly in a way that is much more respectful of women?

You continue to make Islam synonymous with war and terrorism. Get a clue. Actually, it is America that is obsessed with war and glorifies it. You know, war on drugs, war on gang violence, war on poverty, the Persian Gulf War, Star Wars.
