Is the Angry Author Just a Couch Potato?

Re “He’s Angry, Raunchy and Unapologetic” (April 8): Angry author James Robert Baker has written a novel in which AIDS kamikazes kill gay-bashing conservatives.
Baker himself believes the rage expressed in his novel comes from the grief over friends dying of AIDS and his opinion that uncaring conservatives are supposedly at least partly responsible for these deaths.
It is my opinion that Baker’s rage, his literary suggestion of violence, comes not just from grief and blame-pinning but from a sick life and perhaps too much TV watching. Like so many in our TV-reared culture, Baker turns to violence, even if only in words, as the means to solve life’s many difficult problems.
