A Nevada Las Vegas compliance official has confirmed that the university is checking whether a friend of basketball player Kebu Stewart might have received improper benefits.
Officials confirmed a television report that the school was investigating whether David Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y., a friend of Stewart’s, received improper benefits. Williams was given a complimentary hotel room.
The university is also investigating whether a third-party benefit was involved when Rebel player J.R. Rider’s parents received free rooms at a Las Vegas hotel.
