Michael Johnson scored an easy victory in his first outdoor race of the year, beating a good field in the 200-meter dash in the Drake Relays at Des Moines, Iowa.

In his first 200 since failing to qualify for the Olympic finals in Barcelona, Johnson tied the meet record of 20.39 seconds.

High jumper Hollis Conway, a two-time Olympic medalist, set a meet record by clearing 7 feet 6 1/2 inches before missing three tries at 7-8 1/2.
