Chavez Film Proposed: American filmmaker Luis Valdez says he hopes to make a movie on the life of the late labor leader Cesar Chavez as soon as he finishes a much-talked-about one on the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Chavez, who died Friday at 66, was a leader in organizing Latino farm workers in the United States. Valdez told journalists in Mexico City that Chavez was “an example for those who live and fight for a better life in the United States.” Valdez, who was on his way to Los Angeles for the Chavez funeral and to propose the film project to the Chavez family, plans to start filming the Kahlo movie in Mexico City in September.
