SCR Adds ‘Hedda,’ ‘Playland,’ ‘Loot’ to ‘93-94 Season

COSTA MESA — South Coast Repertory on Wednesday named three more revivals for its 1993-94 season in Costa Mesa. Henrik Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler” has been added to the four previously announced for the SCR Mainstage; Athol Fugard’s “Playland” and Joe Orton’s “Loot” have been named for the SCR Second Stage.

Theater officials say the 1993-94 SCR Mainstage schedule is to run as follows:

* Sept. 10 to Oct. 1O (previews begin Sept. 3): Paul Osborn’s “Morning’s at Seven,” to be directed by Martin Benson.

* Oct. 22 to Nov. 21 (previews begin Oct. 15): Alan Ayckbourn’s “Man of the Moment,” to be directed by David Emmes.

* Jan. 14 to Dec. 13 (previews begin Jan. 7): Henrik Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler,” to be directed by David Chambers.

* March 4 to April 3 (previews begin Feb. 25): Peter Shaffer’s “Lettice & Lovage,” to be directed by Emmes.

* April 15 to May 15, 1994 (previews begin April 8): Brian Friel’s “Dancing at Lughnasa,” to be directed by Benson.

* June 3 to July 3 (previews begin May 27): To be announced, possibly an original production.
