Record Travel Season Predicted: Americans will travel in record numbers this summer despite a slow recovery from the recession and little chance of another airline fare war, travel industry officials predicted. The American Automobile Assn. and the Travel Industry Assn. predicted 232 million “person trips,” a person trip being one person traveling 100 miles or more from home. That would be 4% more than in 1992, they said. The forecast was drawn from telephone surveys by the Travel Industry Assn. and the U.S. Travel Data Center, an affiliate.
