Tariffs on Textiles, Other Products Cut: The government announced an average one-third cut in tariffs on a range of textiles and other products. Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Gabrielle Nixon said the reductions are designed to keep pressure on local manufacturers to be more competitive. The reductions are part of a program that began in September, 1991, aimed at a gradual phase-down of tariff barriers.
