Jerusalem Mayor Kollek to Seek His 7th Term

JERUSALEM — Mayor Teddy Kollek said Wednesday he will run for a seventh term to try to keep the office from hard-liners he fears could upset the delicate ties he has built with the city’s Arabs.
Kollek, 82, has been mayor of Jerusalem since 1965. He was hospitalized for exhaustion last month and had cancer surgery 18 months ago. But Kollek showed reporters a clean bill of health from his doctor.
