Man Turns In Wallet Containing $2,000

You may have already won the right to claim $2,000.
The catch is, you’d have to have lost it first.
A wallet containing exactly that amount was turned in to the Los Angeles Police Department station in Van Nuys on Monday evening. “A man came in to the station with the wallet and said he found it,” Sgt. James Stoney said.
The wallet, found in Van Nuys, contained no identification. Indeed, according to Stoney, it had nothing in it but the money.
“This guy said he felt he had to turn it in in case some little old lady had lost the money and was looking for it,” Stoney said.
He declined to identify the wallet finder, saying only it was a Van Nuys resident.
The wallet will be held at the station, Stoney said, “until someone can come forth and identify the wallet to our satisfaction.”
“That person would have to describe the wallet and know the denomination of the bills, exactly.”
If the wallet is not claimed in the next several months, the man who found it could put in a claim for the money.
“He didn’t seem much interested in that,” Stoney said. “He just wanted to make sure it got turned in.” As of Tuesday evening, the police had gotten no calls inquiring about the wallet.
