VENTURA : State Allocates Funds to Upgrade Bridges
- Share via
The California Transportation Commission allocated $5.1 million Thursday to strengthen seven Ventura County bridges so they will better withstand earthquakes.
The bridges are located in Ventura on California 33 from Garden Street to the Main Street on-ramp, and on the Ventura Freeway from San Jon Road to West Main Street.
Construction should begin in November and be completed by June of next year.
The work is part of a statewide program to make freeway columns sturdier.
The work will include encasing the columns in steel jackets, anchoring footings with steel rods and securing bridge abutments.
