Sikhs Are the Right Kind of Neighbors
* North Hills residents are making a big mistake by objecting to a Sikh religious and day-care center.
I’m an old Irish Catholic myself, and I’m not interested in more Irish Catholics per se in my neighborhood. I’m interested in good, honest, hard-working neighbors.
When I lived in northern New Mexico in the seventies, a similar uproar ensued. Then, the residents of the Espinola Valley, like the North Hills residents, through ignorance and the lack of facts, opposed a new Sikh community.
Fortunately, the Sikhs prevailed. The Sikh community in New Mexico then, as well as today, is one of the most respected groups in the Valley.
Why? They are hard-working, honest neighbors who mind their own business.
