An 18-month-old Palmdale toddler was killed Wednesday when she was hit by a trailer being towed by her father’s truck, police said.
The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. when the father, who was not identified, stopped his truck outside the family home to say goodby to his wife. Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Olson said the girl wandered in front of a trailer that was hitched to her father’s truck.
As the father drove away, the toddler was struck by the trailer, Olson said.
“She unknowingly walked between the truck and the trailer and no one saw her,” Olson said. “It was just a very tragic accident.”
The family rushed the injured child to Palmdale Hospital Medical Center, where she died about 1:20 p.m., authorities said. The names of the victim and her parents were not released.
