Compton : Businesses Must Follow Painting Regulations

An ordinance that will require businesses along major streets to become color-coordinated was passed unanimously by the City Council this week.
The uniform paint ordinance, which will have its first test along Rosecrans Avenue between Alameda and Wilmington streets, requires owners of businesses and apartment buildings to choose from four colors for exterior paint and trim. City officials are negotiating with property owners over the deadline for the Rosecrans painting to be completed. The ordinance will be phased in on all major city streets over the next year.
City officials have promised property owners help, mostly in the form of small loans, but are adamant that all buildings comply.
