FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Athletes to Attend Gym Fund-Raiser
- Share via
World-class athletes will be on hand Sunday to give autographs and pose for photographs in an effort to raise funds for the Fountain Valley High School gymnasium.
The gym’s floor was destroyed in July by vandals, who flooded the hardwood floor and caused $200,000 in damage.
To help the school raise money to pay the $25,000 insurance deductible, Asics Tiger Corp., headquartered in Fountain Valley, is holding the fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the high school, 17816 Bushard St.
Athletes will sign autographs for $2 and pose for photographs for $3. Sports clinics for a donation of $5 a person will also be held beginning at 10 a.m.
Among athletes scheduled to attend are Rick Barry, NBA Hall of Fame member; Steve Scott, the American record holder for the mile; Bryan Ivie, the 1992 Men’s National Volleyball Team’s most valuable player; and Doug Brocail, San Diego Padres pitcher.
