Flavio Garcia Caro, 24, of Santa Ana was driving south about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday when his car struck a eucalyptus tree near Crown Valley Parkway, CHP Officer Lori Hatley said.
Caro died at the scene. He sustained blunt force trauma to the head and chest, Hatley said.
His passenger, Francisco Rodriguez, 28, also of Santa Ana, was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo for treatment of a broken left knee, a broken left elbow and multiple cuts and bruises.
