SEA VIEW LEAGUE : Clark, Mathis Power Irvine Offense Past Woodbridge

IRVINE — Sean Clark caught three touchdown passes and Tony Mathis ran for two scores to lead Irvine to a 38-22 Seaview League victory over Woodbridge Friday at Irvine High.
Clark had four catches for 65 yards for Irvine, ranked No. 4 in Orange County.
Mathis rushed for 175 yards in 25 carries for the Vaqueros (5-1, 3-0).
Billy Atkinson led Woodbridge (4-2, 1-2), rushing for 121 yards on 20 carries.
Woodbridge took an early lead when Ian Dominelli caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Matt Sauk with 8:26 left in the first quarter.
But Clark caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mike Phelps with 4:36 left in the quarter to tie, 7-7.
Tommy Louie kicked a 24-yard field goal with 10:59 left in the second quarter to give Irvine a 10-7 lead.
Clark then caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Phelps with 8:07 left in the second quarter to give Irvine a 17-7 lead.
Mathis’ 18-yard touchdown run with 7:43 left in the third quarter put Irvine ahead, 24-7.
Clark’s 18-yard touchdown catch with 3:30 left in the third quarter put the Vaqueros ahead 21-7.
Woodbridge closed the gap to 31-14 when Sauk scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 11:06 left in the game.
But Mathis’ 15-yard touchdown run put Irvine ahead 31-14.
Woodbridge made it 38-20 when Sauk connected with Nate Perizzo on a 10-yard touchdown pass with 3:15 left in the game. The Warriors Tim Miller then caught a pass for the two-point conversion, closing the gap to 38-22.
