BALDWIN HILLS : Debate Scheduled on School Vouchers
- Share via
The Region C School Advisory Council of the Los Angeles Unified School District will host a debate on Proposition 174, the state school voucher initiative, on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Jean Cohen, president of the Los Angeles County League of Women Voters, will moderate the debate at Baldwin Hills Elementary School, 5421 Rodeo Road, between representatives from Yes on 174, A Better Choice and Citizens Against 174.
The initiative, which is on the November ballot, would allow parents of school-age children to redeem tax-funded vouchers worth $2,600 at private or parochial schools. The measure also would allow public schools to accept vouchers, and children could attend public campuses outside their home districts.
Region C includes 111 elementary schools bounded by Pacific Palisades to the west, Western Avenue to the east, Mulholland Drive to the north and Imperial Highway to the south.
