SANTA ANA — Police have identified a Fountain Valley man found shot to death Monday night in a car in the 4400 block of West 1st Street.
Jose Luis Vargas, 27, was shot four or five times in the upper body in an apparent dispute over narcotics, according to Police Lt. Robert Helton.
Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the parking lot behind a bar were told by witnesses that several men had fled in a vehicle.
The car was found abandoned about half a mile away, at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Kent Avenue, Helton said.
No arrests have been made, police said.
