CITY SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : El Camino Real Whips Chatsworth

The El Camino Real High defense forced five turnovers and the Conquistadores exploded for 28 points in the third quarter en route to a 48-12 win over Chatsworth in a Northwest Valley Conference game Friday night at Chatsworth.
El Camino Real returned two turnovers for touchdowns and used two others to set up scores as the Conquistadores (6-2, 3-2 in league play) rallied from a 12-7 deficit midway through the second period.
Chatsworth (3-5, 1-4) remained close through the first half behind touchdown bombs of 66 and 93 yards from quarterback Aaron Hummel to wide receiver Aristol Melchor. However, defensive back Michael Cooper intercepted a Hummel pass just before halftime and returned it 42 yards for a score and a 14-12 El Camino Real lead.
El Camino Real’s Chris Shinnick rushed for 104 yards in 15 carries.
Hummel completed eight passes for 271 yards with two interceptions. Melchor caught five of those passes for 201 yards.
