Image Entertainment’s Profits Bounce Back

Image Entertainment Inc. rebounded with a profit of $1.1 million for the second quarter ended Sept. 30. The Chatsworth-based company had reported a loss of $623,000 for the same period last year.

In addition, Image Entertainment reported net income for the six months ended Sept. 30 of $1.9 million, compared with a loss of $2.3 million for the same period in 1992.

The company licenses and distributes optical laser discs. Most of Image Entertainment’s sales are 12-inch laser disc format, but company officials said they will monitor the progress of a new 5-inch optical disc format.
