4 Killed as Floods, Winds Hit Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thunderstorms and high winds buffeted middle America on Sunday and brought deadly flooding to eastern and southern Missouri, where four people were killed and hundreds were evacuated after rivers spilled over their banks.
A tornado touched down in southeast Missouri near West Plains. Up to nine inches of rain fell in eastern and southern Missouri, causing flooding and mudslides that closed many roads.
Four people, including two 18-year-old women in one car, died Sunday when their vehicles were swept away by raging rivers.
In eastern Missouri, scores of residents in St. Francois, Iron and Reynolds counties were evacuated, officials said.
There was damage from strong winds in Kentucky at Utica and Prospect, and in Arkansas at Searcy and Moscow.
