Rocketdyne to Cut Perhaps 900 Jobs: The Rockwell International unit in Canoga Park, citing various space program cuts, said it will undertake a new round of deeper and broader job cuts that will eliminate up to 990 jobs over the next year. The reduction will come through layoffs, transfers and attrition and will be spread across the board from clerks to engineers to management. Rocketdyne said it has not yet decided on the exact number of jobs to be eliminated but that between 660 and 990 positions will be slashed. That represents between 10% and 15% of Rocketdyne’s total employment. Most of its 6,600 current employees work at Rocketdyne’s extensive complex in Canoga Park.
