IRVINE — Hycor Biomedical Inc. has agreed to acquire Melja Diagnostik GmbH, a diagnostic products company in Kassel, Germany, for an undisclosed amount of cash. Hycor, an Irvine medical products manufacturer, said it expects to complete the purchase next month.
The acquisition “provides Hycor an entry into the $40-million German allergy diagnostic market, the largest in Europe, and follows our strategy to expand our presence internationally,” said Richard D. Hamill, Hycor’s chairman, president and chief executive.
Melja Diagnostik, a privately held company founded in 1986, had 1992 sales of $2.1 million.
