First-Class Stamp May Rise to 33 Cents: The U.S. Postal Service expects to request the rate increase early in 1994, to become effective in 1995, a spokesman said. “We want to hold any postage rate increase to under the rate of inflation,” Postal Service spokesman Frank Brennan said. Officials stressed that no specific decisions had yet been made as to the amount of a potential increase.
