McDonnell Douglas Gets Funds for Rocket Research

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration said Monday that it has awarded McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in Huntington Beach almost $1 million to continue its research and development of a reusable rocket.
The so-called Delta Clipper DC-X program, which is developing a rocket that can take off and land without separating stages or using parachutes, was being tested at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. It completed three such tests successfully.
The additional cash will allow the company to continue its testing of the rocket.
