Viacom Cable TV Unit Eliminates 43 Jobs: Viacom Inc.’s cable TV systems division said it has eliminated 43 positions, most of them at its Pleasanton, Calif., headquarters. A company official said the cuts represent about 2% of the work force and were made necessary by recent federal regulations rolling back cable rates. He said about 15 of the displaced employees will be offered other positions.
