Countywide : Fog to Hang Around Again This Morning

The early morning fog that blanketed coastal Orange County on Wednesday and Thursday is expected back today, according to WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times.
An area of low pressure about 700 miles to the southeast is creating an onshore flow of moist marine air, according to meteorologist Bruce D. Thoren of WeatherData. As the night air cools, the moisture in the air condenses and fog develops, he said. The fog may continue through the weekend, Thoren said.
The forecast for today calls for morning clouds and patchy fog, giving way to partly sunny skies, with some low cloudiness, later in the afternoon. Farther inland, Thoren said, particularly in the canyons, the morning fog should diminish.
In Newport Beach, this morning’s low is expected to be 50 degrees, with an afternoon high of 61. Santa Ana is expected to have a morning low of 49, with the mercury rising to 76.
