Actor James Caan May Be Charged With Brandishing Gun

Actor James Caan, famous for his role as a gangster in “The Godfather,” was released on his own recognizance Friday after his arrest on suspicion of brandishing a weapon.
Caan was arrested at 10 p.m. Thursday after another man accused him of brandishing a pistol, Los Angeles Police Lt. John Dunkin said. Brandishing a weapon is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum six-month jail term.
The actor said he was going to his brother’s North Hollywood apartment when he got into an argument with the other man, police said.
Police continued to interview witnesses Friday, and the Los Angeles city attorney’s office will decide next week whether to file a charge against Caan, Dunkin said. He said the actor apparently had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
