COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : OCC Sweeps El Camino in Volleyball

Mike Melcher had 13 kills to help Orange Coast sweep El Camino in a nonconference men’s volleyball match Friday at Orange Coast.
Eric Johnson added 11 kills for the Pirates (6-0), who won 15-8, 16-14, 15-9.
Sean Roberts had 19 kills for El Camino (4-2).
In other nonconference volleyball:
Golden West 3, Santa Monica 1--Andy Kijewski had 19 kills and Greg Reitz had 13 kills for Golden West (2-4) in a 15-4, 14-16, 15-8, 15-12 victory.
In the Golden West Invitational softball tournament:
West Valley 2, Golden West 1 (6, time limit)--Clair Alvies drove in the winning run with a double in the fifth inning for West Valley (10-2) in a first-round game. Golden West scored its run in the third when Laura Minard drove in a run with a two-out bunt single.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s track and field:
Rancho Santiago 65, Saddleback 59, Orange Coast 56--Ulysses Flores won the 200 meters in 22.1 seconds for Rancho Santiago.
In nonconference golf:
Rancho Santiago 397, Citrus 405, Pasadena 416, Mt. San Jacinto 464--Barlow Elton, Darek Clare and Jim Spurlock each shot five-over 79 to lead Rancho Santiago (12-4) at Los Serranos.
