Quake Confusion Shows Need to Learn English
- Share via
* We are the United States of America. Even though we have the right to speak our ancestors’ languages and practice their religions and traditions, it is our duty to learn to communicate in the tongue of our adopted country.
After the earthquake, many people desperately needed help only to be thwarted by their lack of ability to speak and understand English. This was compounded by the severe shortage of interpreters.
Please learn English before the next disaster.
