* Re “Key Element of Clinton’s Health Plan Passes First Test” (March 16):
The fact that the first congressional subcommittee to consider health legislation reform proposed that employers be required to pay 80% of health insurance costs for their workers is not too surprising. Don’t taxpayers pay roughly 75% of the health insurance costs for federal government employees?
A 60%/40% employer/employee payment ratio might be more practical, particularly for smaller businesses, and better for the business economy in general, but then representatives would be proposing higher insurance costs for themselves--and for all state government employees as well.

* To those who favor a government-administered health plan, I have two questions: Would you like it administered by the post office? If you have any complaints, would you like them handled by the IRS? Enough said.
