World IN BRIEF : SOUTH KOREA : Troops on Alert as North Gives Warning

South Korea placed its armed forces on special alert as the north warned that U.S. deployment of antimissile batteries in the south will push the peninsula to the brink of war. In another move likely to inflame the situation, the south said that this year’s joint military exercises with U.S. forces will involve the Patriot missiles.
