BURBANK : Work Begins on Car-Pool Lanes
Work began this week on new car-pool lanes on both sides of the Ventura Freeway along four miles of road between the Golden State and Glendale freeways, authorities said.
Also, Chumo Construction, the Baldwin Park construction firm that will undertake the $4.5-million project, will restripe that portion of the road and build a new concrete median between the lanes, according to Caltrans, the state transportation agency.
Most of the work will be done at night, but will require some lane closures, the agency said. The project is scheduled for completion early next year.
The work is part of a 15-year project undertaken by Caltrans, which is working to build a network of car-pool lanes across most of Los Angeles County.
